Charles County Sherriff's Office – La Plata, MD: 2018 Citizen's Police Academy participants learn behind the scenes aspects of the operational structure of this law enforcement agency. The students go through 12 weeks of hands-on and classroom instruction to embrace the realities of policing and they learn how to become ambassadors for the officers that protect and serve the county they serve. Graduates can apply to become members of the Alumni Association to further strengthen the effort of community policing and citizen engagement with and for the officers who suit up daily to answer the call.
